“As a parent it’s my right to protect my child. As a parent it’s my right to choose his safety above all else. As a parent it’s my right to demand we do better”.

We can make demands and lawmakers are likely to ignore them. We can choose something else, maybe even better based, on our particular viewpoint.

And, if we all exit our kids from school they will send truancy officers, which may get attention in a different way. We only have 10 days of unexcused absenteeism in Texas. It’s probably not the best choice for us, but maybe for someone else. I’d prefer not to repeat grades for my children, especially more than half-way through the school year. However, home school is an option available to everyone.

Like I tell my kids, We get to make choices freely, we just don’t get to choose the consequences.
