I had similar thoughts until I used it Tom. As a writer, secure in my voice, I gladly went exploring.

For students’ use in the classroom, I was highly skeptical. Then I overheard my students talking about how they are using it. I realize that it won’t go away, and students are already using it. That being the case, they’ll be submitting full blown papers created by AI quickly. As far as I know, there isn’t yet a plagiarism checker that will detect AI use.

We don’t need any further ways to dumb anyone down, that’s for certain. But, perhaps it can be an enhancement tool that further builds up student writing—>after the student produces his/her own writing samples?
