My heart breaks for Denver, not because it’s horrific, because it is — horrific, but because I understand more fully the emotions involved. The fear is one thing, but to really know it is something different. It’s sad so many people have to know this fear. It’s heartbreaking. The pain, the not knowing, the fear, the fight to live — even if it’s finding the nearest unintended exit, and being trained to do so. It’s sad we have evolved to this.
