Parenting is a Terribly Messy, Personally Painful Subject

If we’ve met you know that I care deeply about parenting, travel, self-improvement, and how these subjects impact our family relationships. You know what I do but may have forgotten why I do it.
My mom wasn’t the best role model, yet I survived.
Parenting was a decade-long journey and we lost four children along the way. This family of four should be a family of eight.
The question that goes through my mind daily: How can I be the best parent possible despite the example I had?
And I’m willing to talk about it all.
Most of us look forward to parenting and how the joy of the job is going to impact our lives and the lives of those we raise.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out the way we planned. Sometimes we don’t have the support structure we need. Other times mom wasn’t equipped for herself, much less to have the ability to raise children. And all too often, we hear the story where children are abused.
- It’s estimated that at least 1 in 7 children in the US has experienced child abuse and/or neglect in the past year.
