This angers me. Not anything that you’ve written. The fact that the endearing series I grew up loving is being changed and addressed as “wrong”, to the point of removing its award and renaming its own award institution. Laura, Mary, Pa, Ma, and Jack must be turning over in their graves.

I read the whole series again and again. Even hid under my covers with a flashlight in bed when I should have been sleeping to enjoy those words. It is what it was, and what it was was great when it was written. It wasn’t written today or by today’s standards.

Let’s go back and change everything that was and is “great” for its time because some grown-ups got their feelings hurt and just can’t handle themselves as grown-ups, but insist in acting like children.

This is what is wrong. That we’re too sensitive to enjoy things anymore. Let’s change statues and awards and guidelines and make everything that has been labeled “great” nondescript. Everything will hurt someone’s feelings today. Too bad greatness will be lost because of it. The health of greatness happens because we feed and read it.

I applaud your piece!
