Yes, I understand this to be common practice, but I don’t know anyone who has actually had their backpack blown up. That is a fun story.
I can only imagine that on this day there was a threat level I cannot understand. Also, I understand the agents probably have to desensitize themselves to people being people. It’s just a transaction, no feelings or emotions. You’ve just got to get the job done. And, the job sucks.
I’ve met some nice agents, and I’m sure some do their job with a level of compassion. Perhaps even these agents do their job with compassion on other days and times. I very much had the feeling they were robots going through motions.
